DIY Santa Claus

Hello. My son and I wrote a letter to Grandfather Frost and, as a gift, made his portrait in the form of a New Year’s applique made of Santa Claus threads.

To make such a portrait of Santa Claus, you will need the following materials:

  • Printed or drawn portrait of Santa Claus.
  • Remains of multi-colored yarn, floss threads.
  • Glue brush.

The simplest Santa Claus

Thread applique “Santa Claus” master class.

The simplest Santa Claus

So, let’s start making an applique from threads

The simplest Santa Claus

We print out a suitable picture on the printer. You can also draw it yourself. Be sure to color it to make it easier to navigate where and what color threads should be glued.

The simplest Santa Claus

Prepare multi-colored threads. Thicker yarns are easier to glue. You will have to tinker with the floss a little longer.

The simplest Santa Claus

Soak the thread in PVA glue and pull it out. Use your fingers to remove excess glue and place it on the drawing. Beforehand, we also lubricate the drawing with PVA glue.

The simplest Santa Claus

We used cotton wool for Santa Claus’ mustache and beard.

The simplest Santa Claus

When all the threads are glued, the background can be painted. We covered it with a layer of PVA glue and sprinkled glitter on top. In the light of the light bulbs, the glitter sparkles elegantly, very New Year’s.

The simplest Santa Claus

New Year’s applique from threads “Santa Claus” is ready. We hope that Grandfather Frost will like our gift.

The simplest Santa Claus

What’s New Year without Santa Claus? It is he who will bring us a holiday, give the children gifts, and let adults think about the achievements and experiences we gained in the past year, and about the hopes of the coming year. None of us doubts that our Santa Claus is a wise, respectable old man. From childhood we get to know him as a fair and kind character. We will try to display these qualities in our New Year’s crafts.

By the way, have you noticed what a huge difference between our Grandfather and foreign Santa Claus? If our DM is the personification of maturity, good nature and experience. He has a long beard, a rich long fur coat and a boyar’s hat. He talks, observes, expects the person to show some good qualities (hospitality, friendliness, hard work, etc.). Then SK is some kind of cheerful NG character. He is wearing short pants and has a cap on his head, not a hat, as if Santa is playing the role of a jester and has come to amuse everyone, nothing more. He will hold the baby on his lap, and for this alone, he is ready to give the child a gift. Our Grandfather is closer, more understandable, and dearer to us. The article will include Santa Clauses and Santas, for every taste and color!

The simplest Santa Claus

By the way, if you need interesting riddles about winter and the New Year for children with short answers, follow the link. Let me also remind you that I had posts about New Year’s costumes for girls (there are snow maidens and snowflakes and icicles, many simple options) and for boys (as many as 9 different options, there are also simple and more complex ones). We also made giant stars, garlands, pine cone wreaths and even salads, and also a real snow globe with slowly falling snow, which, by the way, is done in 5 minutes.

The simplest Santa Claus

If you ask an adult what the most important New Year’s symbol is, you can hear dozens of different answers. About champagne, fireworks and the pretty Snow Maiden, for example. But the children will be unanimous in their answers to this question: the most important symbol of the New Year for every child is Santa Claus. And so that your child doesn’t get bored while waiting for a magical holiday, invite him to make the main New Year’s symbol himself!

DIY Santa Claus can be made in a variety of ways: from paper, cardboard, cotton wool and any other materials. Choose a master class that suits you – simple or more complex – and enjoy creating the New Year’s craft!

From materials that you probably have at home, you can make simple and beautiful crafts for a Christmas tree for kindergarten or school. And these Santa Clauses will perfectly decorate your home Christmas tree – you can easily cope with making them, even if you made your last craft in school!

Craft Santa Claus from paper in three minutes using the origami technique

The simplest Santa Claus

Целую семью милых Дедушек можно сделать всего за несколько минут, используя самые простые подручные материалы. В результате получатся вот такие симпатичные поделки:
Что понадобится:

  • single-sided red colored paper (or you can glue red and white sheets of paper together if you only have double-sided colored paper in the house);
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • red and black markers.

How to make Santa Claus with your own hands in three minutes – step-by-step instructions:

  • From single-sided red paper, cut out a square with sides 10 centimeters long.
  • Fold the red and white square diagonally to create a triangle.
  • Unfold the triangle and fold its edges towards the center, as if you were folding an airplane.
  • Fold the lower part of the triangle so that it completely covers the upper part – you will get a shape similar to a boat.
  • Turn the wide part of the boat down – this will be Grandfather’s white beard.
  • Fold the protruding sides of the craft so that they are behind the back of the toy.
  • Use a red felt-tip pen to draw Santa’s nose, and use a black felt-tip pen to draw eyes.

  • water;
  • coarse salt.

Volumetric paper Santa Claus

The simplest Santa Claus

  • two sheets of colored paper: white and red;

  • three sheets of cardboard;
  • colored paper in blue, yellow and red;
  • sheet of thin white paper;
  • sheet of thick white paper;
  • scissors;

  • Glue the parts of the craft together.
  • Make the Snow Maiden in the same way, only instead of red paper, take blue paper, and use yellow paper to make the Snow Maiden’s braids.

Making Santa Claus’ sleigh

You can put Grandfather himself and his granddaughter or American Santa, who is traditionally associated with sleighs, in Santa Claus’s bright, elegant sleigh. A child can also give such a sled as a gift to a loved one by placing a small New Year’s surprise inside the craft!

  • foamiran in red or another bright color – foamiran with sparkles will look most impressive, but regular foamiran or even colored paper will do;
  • scissors;
  • small tinsel of any color;
  • glue gun;
  • pencil.
  • From foamiran, cut out two identical curly side strips for the sled – you can be inspired by the idea from the video for the craft or use the ready-made template in the photo.
  • Cover the side strips with tinsel.
  • Next, cut out a small square from foamiran, which will serve as a crossbar connecting the side planks.
  • Place the crossbar in the middle between the side strips, glue all three parts together.
  • Glue the back, front and bottom parts of the sled, also cut from foamiran, to the resulting base.

Origami Santa Claus for children

Last year we already had a topic about paper crafts on New Year’s Eve. There we have already prepared origami DM. This year I was looking for an easy scheme that the kids could master. And I found it!

We place the colored square with the red side on the table, the white side facing us. Fold in half diagonally. Fold the top corner down.

The simplest Santa Claus

Fold both sides to the middle line.

The simplest Santa Claus

The simplest Santa Claus

We make a “fur coat collar” DM, bending from above the edges of those sides that we just folded towards the middle.

The simplest Santa Claus

At the top, we unbend the fold on the collar to get a more “lush” top of the fur coat.

The simplest Santa Claus

We bend the bottom of the workpiece so that a small part (triangle) protrudes from above. It looks like a hat.

The simplest Santa Claus

We bend the very top of the cap, the corner.

The simplest Santa Claus

Turn the workpiece over and bend the corners on both sides 2 times, like an accordion.

Like this for the first time.

The simplest Santa Claus

On the other hand we do the same. And bend the same corners in the opposite direction.

The simplest Santa Claus

Then the very edges of the folded sides will be visible from the front. We did this by the hands of DM.

The simplest Santa Claus

Now let’s work with a felt-tip pen and draw a beard, eyes, nose and cheeks.

Such work can be fixed with glue so that all the edges “sit” in their place and do not move. The figurine can be used as a toy on the Christmas tree or glued to a New Year’s card.

How to make Santa Claus on a postcard

This work can be hung on a Christmas tree or glued to a postcard. This is such a multifaceted job! Poems for the postcard are here.

Cut out the parts. You will have to draw them yourself on paper, repeating everything from the pictures. Don’t worry if this doesn’t work out. You will have your own DM, unlike anyone else!

The simplest Santa Claus

So, I’ll tell you in detail about some of the nuances. We make a red cap on both sides.

Our beard looks like a large oval, on one side of which the edges are uneven. We will need 2 beard parts. One is larger, the second is smaller.

The edge for the hat is cut out in a semi-arc. The head is a large oval. It is advisable to cut the head out of flesh-colored paper.

Glue a hat on your head. We glue the edge along the bottom of the hat. Apply glue to the top part (not the edges) and glue the 2 beard parts together.

The simplest Santa Claus

Glue the beard to the head. We draw the eyes of Santa Claus. When we draw the eyes, we leave an uncolored highlight in the middle. Cut out an almond-shaped shape from red paper. glue it over the beard.

The simplest Santa Claus

We bend the edge and corner of the hat and glue it together. We bend the lace napkin. Cut out a pompom of the required size.

The simplest Santa Claus

Glue it to the edge of the hat. Let’s fluff up the pompom by lifting the edges.

The simplest Santa Claus

We bend the edges of the beard and curl them up.

Master class on how to make a Santa Claus toy using the paper-plastic technique

You can make a three-dimensional figure out of paper by using a technique such as paper plastic. I’ll show you a simple job. It’s easy to repeat. But it will be possible to complicate the process, for example, by making a larger craft.

The simplest Santa Claus

We will need red stripes: 6 pcs. 1 by 15cm and 6 pcs. 1 by 10cm.

From the strips we make 2 balls, a larger one and a smaller one. How to make balls:

  • We lay out the stripes like a snowflake, that is, they are all connected in the middle, but their rays look in different directions. Glue the middle. To be honest, after gluing, I also secured them all with a stapler.
  • We collect the rays all together, from above the middle and also fasten them (it’s more convenient to do this with a stapler).

We have the torso (larger ball) and head ready.

The simplest Santa Claus

Cut out 2 red ovals and glue them under the large ball. These are DM’s legs.

Cut out 2 small ovals from corrugated white paper (cardboard). Glue it on the sides of the ball like hands.

Cut out the orange circle. Glue small white circles above the middle line of this circle. And inside them there are even smaller green circles. These are the eyes.

Cut out a mustache and beard from white corrugated paper.

Glue the mustache and beard onto the lower part of the circle (face).

Glue a small round red ball into the middle of the circle. It can be made by crumpling up paper and rolling it into a ball between your palms.

The simplest Santa Claus

Glue the face onto the head. Glue the head onto the body. It turned out to be the cutest Santa Claus!

You can draw Santa Claus for the New Year. First, we make a pencil drawing according to the sample.

Wet the surface of the sheet. Apply a blue background with watercolors. Due to the fact that the sheet will be wet, we will get very interesting stains on the sheet. You can sprinkle the background with salt, it will make the background seem to be covered with small dots – snowflakes. After the picture dries, the excess salt will need to be removed.

Printable Santa Claus pictures and templates for cutting out

These templates are very convenient to use. They are already part of the finished card or craft. You just need to find a suitable template and print it. All! Cut out, color if necessary and use in your works. Using templates, you can make a postcard, applique, cut out only a part (for example, a head) and glue it to the finished work.

The simplest Santa Claus

Next are cards in the shape of Santa. All you have to do is trace from the screen or print and color!

The simplest Santa Claus

The simplest Santa Claus

Another garland of Santa Claus – cut out the template, apply it to paper and cut it out, color it. We make holes and connect them with rope or tape.

The simplest Santa Claus

You can make the same garland, but as an applique. To do this, cut out a completely red figure along the contours of the SC.

The simplest Santa Claus

And then from white paper we cut out a single piece of hair, beard and fur on the coat. And also a separate circle – a balloon and 2 ovals – fur on mittens. A face made of beige paper. And we glue everything together.

The simplest Santa Claus

If Santa Claus has a long beard on the template, then you can make a NEW YEAR EXPECTATION CALENDAR. The New Year’s calendar is made in the form of the numbers of the month of December pasted onto the beard of Santa Claus. Every day you need to close the number, so the child can see how long it will take to wait for the desired holiday. Remember we made an advent calendar, it’s something similar but without the surprises.

The simplest Santa Claus

And here is a template for an interesting photo frame that can be made from paper and cardboard, or foamiran, or felt. In all cases, cardboard is needed for density.

And here is a template of a moving Santa. We secure the arms, legs and heads with a thread and a button or stick on the back so that the head and arms are movable.

The simplest Santa Claus

You can fasten moving parts with forked buttons. If you don’t have them, you can use flat buttons and wire. To do this, pull the wire through the holes of the button, insert it into the pierced holes of the parts and move apart the ends of the wire, which will hold the connection. Sharp ends can be “covered” with pieces of eraser. Or you can use brads, as in the picture.

The simplest Santa Claus

Next are just various pictures for cutting out. I think you already understand how to distinguish Santa from Father Frost. Grandfather has a long fur coat and a beard, his hat is not a clown’s, but rather a boyar’s, without a bubo.

Craft Santa Claus in the shape of a paper cone for a kindergarten competition

Can kids help us (oops, I got it all mixed up))) Can we help our kids create Santa Claus? Certainly! We hope that we will be able to design a craft together!

We twist a colored sheet of A4 format with the narrow side so that the craft is tall (if you want to make the DM thick, roll the cone with the wide side).

The simplest Santa Claus

Apply glue along the edge of the sheet and fold the sheet to the end, securing the workpiece.

Cut out a second, long oval blank from a white sheet. The edges of the rest are cut out in a wave-like manner.

The simplest Santa Claus

Fold in half. We step back a couple of centimeters from the edge and make a small, centimeter-long incision in a semicircle.

We unbend the fold and fold the part that we cut out forward.

We put this beard detail on the cone. Cut out the white mustache. Cut out a circle from red paper. This is the nose. Glue the nose onto the mustache.

And glue both parts onto the beard under the folded part. We make cuts from the edge of the red rectangle, like a fringe. Glue the eyes above the beard.

The simplest Santa Claus

You can glue a circle to the top, or you can glue a kit, as in the photo below.

The simplest Santa Claus

To do this, lubricate the fringed strip with glue and roll it into a tube. We glue this fringe onto the top of the hat and fluff it up.

Draw a mouth under the beard. And we make cuts on the mustache and beard of Santa Claus.

The simplest Santa Claus

The work is very simple! If you want, you can use the same technique to make the Snow Maiden together with your baby.

More options that you can simply print, cut and glue – click on the picture in the gallery.

DIY paper Santa Claus on a Christmas tree (applique)

The Christmas tree toy should be small and light. This is exactly the craft I’m going to show you now. This is an applique that will require some details. When we glue them all into place, we will have a cute Santa Claus.

  • main white egg-shaped piece,
  • 2 small black circles,
  • one middle red circle,
  • slightly larger than average white circle,
  • red triangle with cut corners,
  • and about 20 thin white stripes and one slightly thicker one.

The simplest Santa Claus

Turn the “egg” over with the sharp end down. Glue a red triangle and a hat to the top of the “face” of the DM.

Glue a white circle-bubo on top of the triangle-hat.

The simplest Santa Claus

Glue a wider strip to the bottom of the triangle. Glue 2 small black circles under Santa Claus’s hat. These are the eyes.

Glue a red nose underneath the eyes.

The simplest Santa Claus

Now comes the real magic! We will use the stripes to make a luxurious beard for Frost.

We wind each strip onto the paste from the handle.

The simplest Santa Claus

Carefully remove the paper. And so on for all 20 strips. We glue each blank by the very edge to the bottom of the “face”.

The simplest Santa Claus

All that remains is to glue the loop and you can hang our toy.

The simplest Santa Claus

Author https://youtu.be/7PrgFfUsw28

The second option is more voluminous and interesting. You will need colored paper, preferably double-sided, if you plan to hang it on the Christmas tree. If you do DM, and not Santa, then simply do not attach the balabon and belt.

The simplest Santa Claus

We fold the A4 sheet into an accordion and tie it with thread in the middle.

The simplest Santa Claus

Glue the outer strips of the accordion and get a semicircle.

The simplest Santa Claus

On the other side we also glue the edges and get a circle.

The simplest Santa Claus

Make another red and white accordion and glue them to each other.

The simplest Santa Claus

From one edge we shorten the accordion by 1-2 cm and tie it in the middle.

The simplest Santa Claus

We make a circle from it in exactly the same way as from the first accordion.

The simplest Santa Claus

We fix the circles to each other with glue and a stapler.

The simplest Santa Claus

Glue a strip of fur – just round the edges of the rectangle. We also make eyes, beard and mustache. If you are making Santa Claus, then make the beard longer.

Well, the third option in this menu item is a multi-tiered application. For it we need a paper plate and a grandfather figurine. Bend the plate in half. On one side of the plate we draw a sleigh.

The simplest Santa Claus

Cut out and slightly open the plate.

The simplest Santa Claus

We paint it red and make the rim gold. Draw a figure of SK or DM up to the waist. You can cut the finished one from the pictures a little lower in the post.

The simplest Santa Claus

We draw and cut out boxes with bows – gifts. We color and glue them to each other like a ladder.

The simplest Santa Claus

We put the character in the sleigh along with gifts. Ready. And the best part is that the craft itself stands on the table.

Volumetric Santa Claus made of paper (diagram)

I’ll show you one of the easiest ways to make a three-dimensional Santa craft. Using the same principle, using the pictures above, you can make a grandfather by changing his hat and lengthening his beard.

DM and the Snow Maiden

Cut out and glue figures of Father Frost or Snow Maiden.

The simplest Santa Claus

  • Cut out the parts according to the diagram.
  • Glue the 2 parts of the head together.
  • We roll the lower part of the craft, which is in the shape of a semicircle, into a cone.
  • Now let’s assemble all the parts: glue the head to the body. And on the sides are hands.

Print out the template and glue the torso and arms first. Then we glue the arms to the body, then the mittens, and the collar.
