## Drawing paper

Whatman paper is the most common technology for producing thick (200 g/m2) paper for drawing work.

## Paper wallpaper

Paper wallpapers are divided according to their gross weight into three categories:

## Money paper

** The mass of a square meter of money paper used for the production of Russian banknotes is 96 grams (data from How-Weigh.ru). **

## Interesting facts about paper

- 85% of paper is cellulose, which contains complex carbohydrates. So the paper is quite edible.
- How many times can you fold a piece of paper? No more than seven. However, an American schoolgirl managed to do this as many as 12 times – with the help of certain mathematical calculations.
- Until the 18th century, the paper produced had a brownish-yellow color, which negatively affected the reader’s vision. With the discovery of chlorine, paper became white, which means it became “safe” for the human eye.
- One financier or lawyer can “write up” about 20 tree trunks per year.
- According to psychologists, it is best to read on the toilet. In this regard, many manufacturers produce paper for “toilet” reading – with jokes and other literary works printed on its surface.

Now we know how much a sheet of A4 paper weighs, how to calculate it, as well as many interesting facts about this amazing material.

## A little “paper” history

Paper was first used for writing in Ancient Egypt. True, it was not exactly paper in the usual sense, but its “prototype” was papyrus. This was the name of the reed that grew in abundance along the Nile River. Light, thin and extremely easy to carry, papyrus served as an excellent raw material for making writing sheets.

But ancient Chinese paper production is more similar to the modern method. According to legend, the idea of making paper from mulberry pulp belonged to an official of the Chinese court of the Han Dynasty, Cai Long, in 105 AD.

** In Europe, paper production began in Spain in 1120. The materials for production were linen and hemp rags, from which excellent thick white paper was obtained. Over time, the demand for paper has increased greatly, leading to the need to increase production volumes. **

## Frame weight calculation

Using this formula, the mass of a ream of 500 sheets (one ream) of an 11″ x 17″ tabloid is 24 lbs. Book paper with a base size of 25 by 38 inches is:

(11×17) x 24 / 25×38 = ~4.72 lbs

## How much does svetocopy a4 weigh?

A4 format:

- One pallet of A4 paper = 240 packs or 48 boxes; weight 600 kg; volume 0.92 m3
- One A4 box = 5 packs of 500 sheets; size 315 mm x 222 mm x 270 mm
- One A4 box = 12.5 kg
- One pack of A4 = 2.5 kg

** A3 format: **

- One A3 pallet = 120 packs or 24 boxes; weight 603.84 kg; volume 0.86 m3
- One box A3 = 5 packs of 500 sheets; size 420 mm x 297 mm x 270 mm
- One box A3 = 25.1 kg
- One pack A3 = 5 kg

The paper should be stored in a dry place at room temperature. Like any cellulose, it quickly absorbs moisture and becomes wet. It is recommended that after transportation, allow time for the temperature balance to be restored. Also be careful: the edges of the paper sheet are quite strong and can cut your hands if desired, so if there is a possible jam in the printer, do not try to forcefully pull out the damaged sheet! Use recommended paper for office printing, of which Svetocopy is a clear example.

## How much does one A4 sheet weigh – methods of determination

Using special scales. For this, it is better to use jewelry or laboratory scales with a weighing accuracy of 0.1 or 0.01 g. However, in the absence of such a device, you can resort to ordinary kitchen scales. In this case, you should weigh a pack of A4 paper containing 500 or 1000 sheets. Divide the resulting mass by the number of sheets in the pack.

Using mathematical calculations. Here you will need width, length and density. First, we find the sheet area – 0.21 m x 0.297 m = 0.06237 m2. Now we calculate the mass by multiplying the area by the density – 0.06237 m2 x 80 g/m2 = 4.9896 g. Thus, the weight of one sheet of A4 is 4.9896 g, which can be rounded to 5 g.

## How much do sheets of paper in size A weigh –

The weight of a sheet of paper depends on the size of the sheet and the thickness of the paper, measured in grams per m ^{ 2 }

The table shows the weights for paper sizes 4A0, 2A0, A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9 and A10

This means that, for example, to find out how much an A4 sheet weighs, you need to look at the density table (basically, the density of office paper is 75 g/m ^{ 2 }

) find it and hold it until it intersects with the format cell – the weight of the A4 sheet is 4.69 grams.
